The inside scoop on the Glamp Grounds project

Harrows
A venue with those iconic kiwi holiday feels - a case study on collaboration

‘A holiday before your holiday at Auckland International Airport’ – not an easy task creating a fun, iconic festival atmosphere inside an airport, but Joylab’s recently opened Glamp Grounds captures the iconic Kiwi holiday vibe and serves it up to airport travellers.

The project was an exciting collaboration between Joylab, design firm Ctrl Space, fit-out specialists The Fit-Out Collaborative and hospitality furniture experts Harrows.

Working with both the client and the designer, the furniture plan was developed to infuse the exciting character of the Glamp Grounds into carefully thought-out designs. Through close collaboration and shared knowledge of the industry, the keen Kiwi ‘spirit of adventure’ was reflected in the high level of personalisation in each piece.

Ensuring the product would be fit-for-purpose played a large role in furniture specification in a heavy traffic venue like Glamp Grounds.

Harrows went to work finding hard-wearing, robust solutions. Sourcing product or creating custom furniture and adding finishes and flourishes, like pops of bright colour to bring the design vision to life.

We find Harrows great to work with as we know we will get what we want.

Their collaborative approach gives us confidence that the end product will be both on brief and fit-for-purpose,”

Andy Roberts, Operations Director, Joylab.

Custom furniture designs played a large role in the fit-out also, with unique picnic tables creating a real feature and helping to create calming, relaxed zones within the busy layout. It was these bespoke pieces that helped really enhance the Glamp Grounds’ point of difference.
