Encouraging collaboration through quality design and functionality
Harrows was delighted to fit out the podium and common rooms in the Waiparuru Hall at the University of Auckland. Designed to house almost 800 students, the hall is not only a place to sleep and eat, but to also encourage learning and socialisation.
Students rooms are housed in two separate towers that are connected by the podium. The podium is designed as a hub where students can collate and socialise with one another, and the furniture supplied addresses the students’ need for both group discussion and secluded spaces.
Working alongside architects Warren and Mahoney, Harrows provided a wide range of both standard and bespoke furniture pieces. Ikon tables and leaners provide space to collaborate, while richly upholstered Pause Lounges offer more than just a comfortable place to gather. The high backs provide acoustic softening and a more private area for students.
