There is a number of things to consider when choosing the right bar stool, so we’ve put together some tips to help make the best decision for your café, bar or restaurant.
Height
There are three standard heights in bar stools – 750mm high, 650mm high and 450mm high.
So which stool height is right for me?
750 – this is your traditional height for hospitality, pairing with bar leaners at 1050mm high. It is a great height for conversation, dining and drinking.
650 – this versatile height is used in hospo and residential settings. Designed to pair with 900mm high leaners or standard kitchen counter height.
450 – a great alternative to a café or dining chair, this stool is designed for standard table height.
Spacing
Stools typically offer a more compact footprint than dining chairs, making them a great option to maximise space when designing your layout. Our recommendation is to allow a width of 600mm per stool when spacing your seating.
Style, Function & Comfort
Once you have selected your height and designed your space, it’s time to take things to the next level. Does your space need a stacking stool or one that can be easily moved around? Consider the experience of your guests and what your brand story requires. Upholstered seats can add an extra layer of comfort, while wooden or metal stools might be more durable and easier to clean. Or are you after a touch of sophistication by selecting a stool with a back, and adding upholstery.
Material & Finish
The material and finish of your bar stools should complement the overall design of your space. Wooden stools can add warmth and a rustic feel, while metal stools can give a modern and industrial look. Consider the durability of the materials, especially in high-traffic areas, and choose finishes that are easy to maintain.
