Banquettes offer a practical seating solution that improves the traveler’s experience while maximising available seating.
Auckland Airport worked with Context Architects, and sought to expand the domestic terminal’s café seating and create a public social space for travellers in transit. This new lounge extension is designed to accommodate increased passenger flow while providing a comfortable and welcoming environment.
Harrows contributed by supplying banquettes that sweep around the lounge’s perimeter, maximising seating capacity without compromising on style or comfort. The banquettes were designed and constructed with durability in mind, ensuring they can withstand the wear and tear of such a high-traffic environment. Practical features like attached side tables and integrated power points enhance the space’s usability, allowing travellers to recharge both themselves and their devices while waiting for flights. To ensure a smooth installation process, Harrows worked closely with the client, architect, and head contractor. Given the airport’s operational nature, all materials and products were screened by security, and installation occurred outside regular hours to minimise disruption to airport users.
